Last week was just about Masakkali madness. I heard this song first some time in January end, but like all other A.R.Rahman songs , this too didn't capture my heart like a lightning (for me, at least). But, I got some time to revisit this song once again and man... this song is just awesome. I have not heard any other singer singing as energetic and enthusiastic like Mohit Chauhan in this song. Mohit has sung with a 'don't care' kind of attitude and that in fact has turned to a great success. I am sure Rahman would have been laughing during the recording of this song, especially when Mohit sings the 'Masakkali... matak.. matak... matak.......... kali' for the last time. You can just imagine how ecstatic Mohit was while singing this song.
Everytime I listen to the lyrics "puR puR puR tu hai hira pan rE" in this song, I think about nothing but Pilani. Only God knows how much my sleep was affected because of these pigeons coming and sitting right on the window atop the door early in the morning and making damn puR puR sounds. I used to have a newspaper rolled just to get them away from those windows - but those efforts were really hopeless. But, this song is another feather in both Rahman's and Mohit's crown.
